Principal’s Voice

Sometime in the second week of March 2020, the state governments across the country began shutting down schools and colleges temporarily as a measure to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. It’s almost 2 years now since the corona struck us. Thanks to the vaccination drive which has slowed down the spread of this deadly virus. It was a crucial time for the education sector as university and board examinations, school admissions, entrance tests of various universities and competitive examinations were all held during this period.

With no immediate solution to stop the outbreak of the pandemic, colleges remained closed for months, which affected the learners, with far-reaching economic and social impact.

A fragile virus, unable to withstand a tiny soap driblet, is still holding humanity on tenterhooks. COVID-19 has turned out to be the most formidable threat ever confronted by humanity. It is impacting human thought and life as nothing before. Human race has faced many challenges in the past and has always come out of it – much stronger and better. It helped us to understand priorities, focus on what was important.

We have seen a suffering humanity, experienced their pain and struggles, empathized and reached out to them in various forms as corona crusaders. We have seen a world that is changing; there is more accepting of the other, more thoughtful and loving gestures as each one thinks of the other. In the midst of all this suffering and illness, hunger and fear there were several positive stories that emerged of hope and resilience, of courage and selflessness, of availability and generosity, of sacrifice and kindness and much more. This pandemic on one hand caused great suffering and pain to humanity as a whole, but on the other hand it gave us many opportunities to come out as a strong human race.

Though the lockdown had brought everything to a standstill, we at Patna women’s college moved forward quickly and responded to the threat so that our students could continue their progress in terms of their learning outcomes. We had come out with various initiatives to respond to the COVID-19 challenge so that the delay in our academic schedule is minimized without impacting the studies of our students. We have not left any stone unturned in pursuing academic excellence through this pandemic. I remain grateful to all our staff, the parents and well-wishers for their support and cooperation during this pandemic.
